About us

SVIJET JEZIKA (WORLD OF LANGUAGES) is the first accredited foreign language school in Croatia, that is, the first school to receive accreditation from the Ministry of Education for its programmes, and it thereby became part of the general education system of the RC.

This accreditation is the highest standard and recognition which an educational institution can acquire, and implies, apart from academic excellence, contemporary teaching programmes,
and dedication to maintaining the high accreditation standards.
WORLD OF LANGUAGES has accreditation for 7 world languages: English, German, Italian, French, Spanish, Russian and Croatian.
The teaching programmes for these languages, and 6 levels of knowledge (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2), are completely aligned with the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference
for Languages), the fundamental document of the Council of Europe which clearly and precisely defines the standards of learning, teaching and assessment of knowledge of foreign
A certificate from the WORLE OF LANGUAGES is a public document which includes the right of registration in an electronic employment record.
Vodnikova is also an associate of the University of Zagreb. That is to say, students of foreign languages at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences gain practical knowledge in
foreign language teaching methodology at Vodnikova.
Professional training is conducted under the supervision of mentors - teachers from Vodnikova, appointed by the Faculty, and students are assessed for the practical part of the
foreign language teaching methodology course.
For decades Vodnikova has been conducting classes for the employees of businesses and institutions in Zagreb and beyond.
The classes take place at the client's premises, they can be in groups or individual, and can move at the speed the clients want and at the time of their choosing.
Thanks to the dedicated and professional work of its teaching staff, and their love for their profession, Vodnikova has been successfully teaching foreign languages for almost 70 years.
About the Centre for Foreign Languages, the founder of the accredited school, WORLD OF LANGUAGES.
The Centre for Foreign Languages (popularly known as Vodnikova) was founded in 1952 and was the first school in the world where, from the very beginning, foreign languages were
taught by what was then the new method known as the audio-visual method, which radically changed and improved the way foreign languages were taught until that time.
All other, later methods were and still are different variations of that basic method.
In the 1950's and 60's, the Centre organized seminars for foreign language teachers from almost all European countries (Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, the Czechoslovakia of that time,
Denmark, France, Italy, Hungary, The Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Romania, the USSR of that time, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, and the UK), who then passed on their knowledge of this
new method in their own countries.
In 1961, at a competition run by the UN, the Centre was chosen at the school that would introduce the audio-visual method to Egyptian universities, where teachers from the Centre
spent 6 months teaching their Egyptian colleagues all the audio-visual methods and how to use a variety of aids.
During the 1960's and 70's the Centre introduced the audio-visual method in more than 90 towns in Croatia, and more than one hundred schools in Bosnia and Herzegovina,
Montenegro, Macedonia, Slovenia, Serbia, Vojvodina and Kosovo.
Over its long history, teachers from the Centre have written and the Centre has published more than 80 textbooks for teaching foreign languages - English, French, German, Spanish
and Italian, and Croatian for foreigners. All the Centres textbooks have been given excellent reviews by the Ministry of Education.
So that Vodnikova could meet all the statutory requirements and acquire accreditation for its teaching programmes, and as a result issue recognized certificates, in 2007 the Centre founded the Institution known as WORLD OF LANGUAGES.
